For a long time I wanted to improve my very basic FPGA skills. Last year I saw a recommendation for the book “Getting started with FPGAs” by Russell Merrick, who is running nandland.
The MNT Reform system image is deployed on a SD card. This works nicely, but is really more on the slow side, especially when you got used to these new fangled SSDs.
My very first encounter with Lukas F. Hartmann was over at the bird site. I hadn’t heard about MNT Research or the Reform. I only saw a post where he was talking about doing a design with the STDP2600 HDMI to DisplayPort converter and I told him that this probably meant trouble.
About a year ago I came across the MNT Reform, an open hardware laptop by german company MNT Research GmbH. I was fascinated by the hackability, the cool design, the vibrant community and the endless options that the ecosystem offers.
Recently I picked something from our attic. It is a christmas present from my childhood, one of my favorite ones. It is the game Galaxis, a kind of electronic board game from the 80s by german company Ravensburger.
